Jennifer Garner returns as Elektra in Deadpool 3

Jennifer Garner is back in the Marvel universe. The actress, who rose to fame with the Alias series, will once again play Elektra Natchios, the deadly mercenary who fell in love with Daredevil, in the third installment of Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynolds. This was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, which assured that Garner is already on the filming set of the film.

The last time we saw Garner as Elektra was in 2005, in the eponymous film that was a spin-off of Daredevil (2003), where she shared the screen with her ex-husband Ben Affleck, who gave life to the blind superhero. Both films were heavily criticized by the press and the public, but that didn't stop Garner from endearing herself to fans for her portrayal of the complex and mysterious Elektra.

Now, almost two decades later, the 49-year-old actress will have the opportunity to reprise her character in a film that promises to be one of the funniest and most surprising in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (UCM). Deadpool 3 will be the first installment of the saga that will be integrated into the UCM, after Disney will buy Fox and acquire the rights to the character.

Deadpool 3 will see the return of Reynolds as the mercenary with the mouth, who breaks the fourth wall and makes jokes about everything and everyone. The participation of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, the famous mutant with adamantium claws, who had already had some cameos and references in previous Deadpool movies, has also been confirmed.

The plot of Deadpool 3 is still kept secret, but it is known that it will be an R-rated adult film, and that it will have the same irreverent and humorous tone that characterizes the character. There is also speculation that there could be some kind of time travel, or multiverse, to explain how Deadpool and his friends intersect with other Marvel characters.

Deadpool 3 is written by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin, the creators of the animated series Bob's Burgers. However, the writers of the first two films, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, as well as Reynolds himself, have also collaborated. Directing is by Shawn Levy, the filmmaker behind Free Guy and A Night at the Museum.

The scheduled release date for Deadpool 3 is May 3, 2024, although it could undergo some change due to the coronavirus pandemic. What is certain is that fans are eager to see Reynolds, Jackman and Garner together on the big screen, displaying their talent and charisma.
