Jay Wheeler and Zhamira Zambrano got married in Puerto Rico

On the charming island of Puerto Rico, native singer, Jay Wheeler, and Venezuelan artist, Zhamira Zambrano, said their emotional “Yes” to each other at a church wedding. The couple, who legally formalized their union last year, had hinted at a church wedding in Wheeler's homeland, fulfilling his promise in a grand ceremony.

The exclusive Royal Isabela golf club in Puerto Rico became the center of the celebration, hosting 230 guests, according to People en Español.

Jay Wheeler, the voice behind the hit “Curiosity,” had planned an unforgettable proposal for Zambrano on October 6 of last year. In the middle of rehearsals at the Puerto Rico Coliseum, Zambrano was pleasantly surprised by Wheeler, who then stayed up late to propose to her, with the stage illuminated by the resplendent words “Marry me,” to which Zambrano accepted.

For her civil ceremony, Zhamira chose a unique Tiffany blue minidress decorated with a flirty bow, but now the Venezuelan wanted to look "super different."

In an exclusive interview with People en Español, the "Estrellita" singer revealed the details of her look and how she chose her wedding dress.

For her hair and makeup, she relied on the talent of her friend and beauty expert Raiza Montes, who knows Zhamira's style perfectly.

"I left my beauty look in Raiza's hands, honestly, I let her do whatever she wanted," the bride confessed.

However, finding the perfect dress was an unexpectedly difficult road.

"Without exaggeration, I saw about 50 dresses. And in the end I decided on the last one I saw in the last store I went to," the singer tells us.

Zhamira admits that it wasn't love at first sight with her Vera Wang dress with a tulle skirt, but as time went by she realized that it was the perfect one for her big day.

"The first time I didn't love it. I went home without knowing what my final dress was going to be and when I got there and saw it on the phone, I said 'No, I have to go back for that dress.' And when I came back I already took to my whole family and I fell in love with the suit.

Wheeler, for his part, was seen in a classic black suit, white shirt and bow tie. “My designer's name is Brandon; he’s the only thing I’m going to say,” he said of the outfit.

On the other hand, according to the aforementioned media, Jay and Zhamira had 230 guests at the wedding reception, which took place at the exclusive Royal Isabela golf club, on the north coast of Puerto Rico.

The party, according to different media reports, was entertained by the tropical music group Super Banda and a DJ. “We went for a DJ because we like the youthful vibe,” Wheeler told People en Español.
