The persistent ship entered the Martian atmosphere at a speed of 19,500 kilometers per hour. In seven minutes, the velocity dropped to zero. The entire descent process is automated, and since communication with the ground takes more than 11 minutes, the perseverance is of a single person during the operation.
NASA chief Steve Jurczyk said this successful landing will promote future missions to Mars. Perseverance is NASA’s most ambitious exploration of life on Mars since the 1970s.
