A group of archaeologists announced the discovery of the oldest figurative rock painting on the planet, which is found on the inner wall of a cave in Indonesia.
It is an ancient work, hidden in the depths of a mountainous and secluded area on the island of Sulawesi, which surpassed by thousands of years another ancient painting discovered last year on the same island.
According to researchers at Australia's Griffith University and Indonesia's leading archaeological research center, Pusat Penelitian Arkeologi Nasional (Arkenas), the painting recreates the image of a warty pig, and dates back about 45,500 years.
